I grew up eating green beans out of a can. Which are VERY different from fresh green beans. So, the first few times that I tried them, I was not a fan. That was before coming across this recipe. I ate this up, no problem. And John couldn't get enough. I think he ate half the pan, just by himself!
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped cooked ham
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
In a saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cover and simmer for 15-20
minutes or until beans are tender.

Yummy. I'm going to try this one. I like fresh grean beans cooked on med-low in a tbsp of olive oil with garlic, coarse salt and rosemary. Even my kids will eat that! My MIL also does a gb recipe with bacon and red potatoes that is to die for.
