Sinfully Tempting Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake

1 quart strawberries, hulled & sliced

2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 cup buttermilk or plain yogurt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 pint heavy whipping cream

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in butter. Add buttermilk or yogurt and combine. Divide into two pieces and pat each one out into a large circle. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Cool. Beat powdered sugar and whipping cream until soft peaks form. Place one shortcake on serving plate. Layer half of the strawberries and half of the cream on the shortcake, add the second shortcake and repeat layers. Serves about 12.
